4 Kinds Of Confession
Mark 1:4-5 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. 5 And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
There are 4 basic kinds of confessions
1. Confession of sins under the Old Covenant (taught by John the Baptist).
2. Confession of the sinner today which is “Jesus is Lord”.
Romans 10:8 (KJV) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
3. The confession of sin by the believer.
Proverbs 28:13 (KJV) He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
The golden key to recovery is repentance. The humble use the key!- Pastor Bracken
Confession of sin: means to see your sin the way God sees it, to feel toward your sin the way God feels toward it and therefore speaking of your sin as He speaks of it.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
James 4:7 (KJV) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
4. The confession of our faith in the Word
Romans 10:10 …with the mouth confession is made UNTO salvation.
This word for salvation comes from the Greek word “soteria”.
It means, “Deliverance, safety, preservation, healing, soundness & wholeness”. It is an “all-encompassing word”.
Whatever we receive from God our confession is “made unto it”.
You know you can’t earn it. But you do need to receive it.
5 Things We Are to Confess In Faith:
1.We are to confess what God in Christ has done for us in the plan of redemption.
2.We are to confess what God through the Word and by the Holy Spirit is doing in us now.
Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
3.We are to confess who we are to God in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17-18 (KJV) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV) For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Romans 8:1 (KJV) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, …
4.We are to confess what Jesus is doing for us now at the right hand of the Father.
5.We are to confess what God will do through us or what His Word will do in our lips.
What you do with the Word will determine what the Word will do for you one day.
