Give Up Fear
LIFE’S MOST COMMON FEARS
Fear of Loss
Fear of Failure
Fear of Rejection
Fear of the Unknown
2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
· FEAR IS PLACING FAITH IN THE “_____WHAT IFS__?”
Moses answered, "What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, 'The Lord did not appear to you'?" Exodus 4:1
WHY DO YOUR “WHAT IFS” MATTER?
1) WHAT YOU FEAR REVEALS WHAT YOU VALUE THE ____MOST ___.
2) WHAT YOU FEAR REVEALS WHERE YOU TRUST GOD THE ___LEAST_______.
I’M NOT TRUSTING GOD WITH ______________?
HOW DO WE FACE THE WHAT IFS OF FEAR
· ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR FEAR AND CHOOSE TO TRUST GOD.
My slanderers pursue me all day long; many are attacking me in their pride. 3When I am afraid, I will trust in you. 4In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me
THE FURTHER YOU GET FROM GOD THE MORE FEAR OF THE WHAT IFS IN THIS WORLD…
BUT THE CLOSER YOU GET TO GOD THE MORE YOU TRUST GOD AND HAVE LESS FEAR OF THE THINGS IN THIS WORLD
· SEEK __GOD_____ UNTIL HE TAKES AWAY YOUR FEARS.
I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.
"I have never known more than fifteen minutes of anxiety or fear. Whenever I feel fearful emotions overtaking me I just close my eyes and thank God that he is still on the throne reigning over everything and I take comfort in His control over all the affairs of my life.”
OUR FAITH IN GOD IS OUR FREEDOM FROM FEAR, IF ONLY WE CONTINUE TO SEEK HIM
Romans 8:14-15 niv
14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.[a] And by him we cry, “Abba,[b] Father.”
12-14 So don’t you see that we don’t owe this old do-it-yourself life one red cent. There’s nothing in it for us, nothing at all. The best thing to do is give it a decent burial and get on with your new life. God’s Spirit beckons. There are things to do and places to go!
15-17 This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we are going to get what’s coming to us—an unbelievable inheritance! We go through exactly what Christ goes through. If we go through the hard times with him, then we’re certainly going to go through the good times with him!
The mature children of God are those who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit. And you did not receive the “spirit of religious duty,” leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the “Spirit of full acceptance,” enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!”
GOD COMES BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR FEAR!
You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.
