CHRIST ABOVE EVERYTHING

DECLARATION:

HE IS THE DELIVERER WHO RESCUED US.

HE IS THE REDEEMER WHO PURCHASED US.

HE IS THE CREATOR WHO FORMED US.

HE IS THE SUSTAINER WHO HOLDS US.

HE IS THE HEAD WHO LEADS US.

HE IS THE FULLNESS OF GOD REVEALED TO US.

HE IS THE RECONCILER WHO RESTORED US.

WHEN CHRIST IS ABOVE EVERYTHING, HE CHANGES WHAT WE SEEK, WHAT WE THINK, WHAT WE REMOVE, AND WHO WE BECOME.

COLOSSIANS 3:1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

NEW LIFE SHOULD PRODUCE A NEW DIRECTION.

WHAT YOU SEEK REVEALS WHAT YOU VALUE

COLOSSIANS 3:2

2 [a]Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 

YOU CAN'T LIVE A HEAVENLY LIFE WITH AN EARTHLY MINDSET.

COLOSSIANS 3:3-4

3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

JESUS ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE PART OF YOUR LIFE. HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE CENTER OF IT.

COLOSSIANS 3:5-7

5 Therefore [b]consider the members of your earthly body as dead to [c]immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which [d]amounts to idolatry. 6 For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come [e]upon the sons of disobedience, 7 and in them you also once walked, when you were living [f]in them. 

WHAT GOD CALLS DEAD, WE DON'T KEEP FEEDING.

YOU CANNOT HOLD ONTO EVERYTHING AND FOLLOW JESUS INTO EVERYTHING.

YOUR PAST MAY EXPLAIN WHERE YOU'VE BEEN, BUT IT DOESN'T GET TO DETERMINE WHERE JESUS IS TAKING YOU.

COLOSSIANS 3:8-9

8 But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. 9 [g]Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old [h]self with its evil practices,

DON'T KEEP WEARING CLOTHES THAT BELONG TO A PERSON JESUS ALREADY KILLED.

COLOSSIANS 3:10-11

10 and have put on the new self who is being [i]renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him— 11 a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, [j]barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all.

1. SEEK WHAT IS ABOVE.

2. SET YOUR MIND.

3. PUT TO DEATH WHAT DOESN'T BELONG.

4. PUT OFF THE OLD SELF.

5. PUT ON THE NEW SELF.

6. LET CHRIST BE ALL.
